The party has come together. The objective(s) are set. Be sure to equip an inspiring playlist to journey by.

Apart from writing words, one of my greatest loves in life is traveling. There’s something magical about airports at 2 a.m., roads with no destination, and strange gas stations with curious shopkeepers waiting to hawk runes or energy drinks. There’s a wealth of world building to be found in great, open spaces and unexplored cities.

Every author has their writing playlist ready to go whenever the need to create strikes. Most character themed playlists tend to err on the side of angsty and tormented (not a bad thing – who doesn’t love a little tortured soul harmony?). However, less love is given to the unaccounted for hours a party of adventurers spends roaming the world. These quiet, ethereal glimpses were always my favorite part of a great video game or novel. There’s an unspoken hope and yearning in the mundane and an intangible bond between strangers on the road.

Whether you’re looking for inspiration to keep writing your fantasy adventure or simply in need of a playlist for wanderlust, these songs will make you want to pack a rucksack and head out to see the world.
